No they probably will never get to the bottom of "this." That is history job. There have been many, many deceptions and obfuscations through out history and most go uncovered and remain hidden. that is true of many assertions utilized to start faux wars and political campaigns. "Remember the Maine," the sinking of the Lusatania,"The Gulf Of Tonkin resolution and Weapons of Mass destruction are just a few during our lifetimes that have been direct and pernicious lies by politicians to stampede Americans into some war or another.
Political machinations and lies are another whole category of un-examined occurrences. Since our lifetimes are relatively short compared to history it is best to live your life without getting lost in these reoccurring and overwrought intrigues. See what you can and vote and act accordingly but don't get lost in the minutia of unraveling every one of the multitude of lies and political b.s. being dished out on a daily basis lest you become a bitter person fighting real and imagined dragons at every turn.
