I'm not a fan of any of the participants of this conflict, but I think the world's better off with Ukraine as a disarmed, neutral buffer between Russia and NATO than as a heavily armed NATO member on Russia's border. Beyond securing their border, I don't think Russia's "expansionist". That's what NATO's been doing for decades.
The constant drum beat of War mongering by almost every Media outlet is extremely suspicious. Even FoxNews has been involved in the “they are bombing orphanages” propaganda. At this point in our history, I find almost all of what we are being fed by career Politicians and the Media to be unbelievable.
It looks like, effectively, the Ukrainian military has ceased to be an effective fighting force. Their air force is gone, their mobility is gone, their ability to coordinate troop movements on a large scale is gone and a huge portion of their army is now cut off from resupply. Once their supplies run out, which could take as little as week to perhaps two months, depending on the intensity of combat and how long they've been digging in and stockpiling supplies, they'll be no more than a mob in uniform, at which point they will have to either surrender or be "mopped up". Ukraine has already lost the war. That's where people's expectations should be.
Over the decades the media has been the driving force in getting Americans to accept and in some cases demand we go to war. As far back as the Spanish American conflict and even up to and including our misadventures in the Middle East the media has amplified and decimated misleading and even false narratives aimed at encouraging and gaining acceptance of our utilization of military force.
Politicians and the media are responsible for tens of thousands of deaths of American's children -- all without an ounce of accountability or self awareness. Media has too often become an arm of the government it was created to police and inform the citizens as to all sides of any particular policy.
Since WW II we have engaged in too many conflicts without the consent of Congress and/or the American public. It is getting so pernicious that many individual citizens believe the conflicts are driven by the military industrial complex and initiated as a profit driven enterprises. It is long past time that Congress step up and demand that no actions take place without their explicit approval. Executive Branch driven wars are Unconstitutional and probably illegal.
