The judgement by Boasberg is laughable on its face as that is not the crime Clinesmith was charged with or plead guilty to. If Boasberg determined Clinesmith truly believed he had only made a clerical error, the judge should have rejected the plea agreement or dismissed the case outright because typos are not a criminal act.

The worst part of it all: the judge who oversees the secret surveillance court got fooled (or not?) by the excuses. Sad!

How how much did institutional concerns (FISA Court, FBI) factor into his decision? I think a good amount.

After hearing the unhinged ranting of DC District Chief Judge Beryl Howell in the "Baked Alaska bond hearing ... it's no wonder that entire district is b@!$#!t crazy.
