Sounds like stuff the Dems have been doing. She’ll probably end up further sidelined in her new job. She certainly did Trump no favors. Too often when women try to be “tough” they miss the mark. The alleged affair is not good. Loyalty, discernment, and values are not occasional or surface traits. Dems may be able to get away with this kind of stuff, but Republicans…not a chance.

She is simply ALL about HERSELF

Glaringly apparent. I even wrote her office encouraging her to “suit up” and look like a member of the Presidential Cabinet. She looked like she was headed to a Robert Earl Keen concert. Believe me, I know.

I agree with you, Sidney…..

Techno, I love ya but Noem was not "fired." She was reassigned. It's an important technicality. Yes, a lot does smack of insider trading, but I would never, ever, ever, ever, ever give the Ds a scalp. If something was wrong, I'll delay until it was only a distraction.

My take is different, as I noted in my own substack. I think putting her face on the ads (which urged illegals to leave on their own power with a bonus) was the issue. The ads were fine, and apparently were effective, given the number of self-deporters. As Steve Bannon told me in 2017, though, "Trump doesn't like co-stars." It's ok if HE elevates you (see Marco Rubio), but you aren't permitted to elevate yourself.

You needn’t call my take out for being idealistic or naive, as well it may be, buUut… at what point might you call out these cartoon characters for their self-enrichment and corruption, with the greater good of the nation they were asked to serve in mind?

When you put the interests of Party before those of the People, it is then that you’ve made yours to be no better than the other in their eyes: that’s how Republicans lose.

I believe it was the optics that did it for Trump. She did do a fantastic job under tremendous pressure and media attention - very stressful conditions for the last year. So glad she was ‘promoted’. My question is: where was her husband when she needed him most?

Larry Schweikart's avatar

We heard nothing from either her husband or Lewandowski's wife.

I have no problem with her face on the ads because that is what attracted attention to it and to what it was about!?!

SD is the second most popular state for multinational corporation domicile, just behind Delaware. Multinational corporations. That ALL wrote million dollar+ checks to Marxist BLM, have DEI/woke policies, have major investments and holdings in China that constitute the majority of their long-term profit plans, enforced plandemic mandates on their employees and customers. Multinational corporations that are the ‘private’ part of ‘public-private partnerships.’ Another term for the ‘Fascistic’ government that Mussolini described as ideal, most efficient, minimizes need for or desirability of individual liberty. Even Noem's plandemic record, not mandating masks across the state, she allowed local governments and employers to mandate them. Public-private partnership, shifting encroachments of rights from the government she led to their business partnerships.

Whoever is (s)elected in SD is the acceptable candidate to the multinationals that run the state. Like Biden in DE, the other large multinational-controlled state.

Multinationals have all calculated that China’s market is their future. 1.5-billion person market with growing middle class disposable income, cheap prison labor vs. US 330-million person market with shrinking middle class disposable income, expensive labor. They see it as a better long-term investment strategy, despite Trump’s reshoreing efforts they have no intention of fulfilling by 2028, all sizzle no steak.

Communism and Fascism are siblings, different sides of the same collectivist authoritarian coin. Central planning, declaration of collective primacy over individual. Any differences are over who in the center gets the biggest cuts of the pie.

That is who a Noem and Thune, Biden, etc is acceptable to. Follow. The. Money. Always.

This Stack I wrote about puppet masters is has more about the subject. Applies to Noem, as well.

And I'll add that seeing her incessantly repeating TSA notices that play on TV's above screening areas in airports today, demanding we all have RealID left me with a distinct dislike for her face and voice. The public face of "Papers Please" surveillance demands with no escape from, being subjected to it for an hour or however long it takes to get through the lines is nauseating. I now associate her with something terrible. Forever imprinted. If she only had an ounce of self-awareness about how that TSA messaging would be received she never would've agreed to being the public face of it.

I seem to remember something about Noem not wanting to ban men swimming in women’s events because a large business concern or association told her not to. All she ever cared about was corporations.

Tina's avatar

I can confirm, and some corporate whores were worse than others with the DEl, trans-kids and drag "stuff," and Plandemic fascism! You wouldn't believe how bad!

She thought was laying the groundwork for a Presidential run from day 1 of her appointment. Vanity indeed. Good riddance Kristi Kardashian.

Grannie's avatar

One thing is for sure… the White House is watching and tolerant is not exactly what they are doing. This should never have happened. Bad judgement will get you fired.

Gary's avatar

I disliked her from the beginning when she talked about shooting her own dog and tried to portray herself as tough. And don’t forget those TV ads she ran as Governor touting South Dakota as a state to come reside. It was self promotion all the way!

Sunset Thunder's avatar

I saw those ads; they ran on Fox News all the time. (As an aside, how many illegals watch Fox News?). But Kristi sitting on a horse in a scenic, western setting just was off-putting.

I always called her “Immigration Barbie” and was never a fan.

National Rule: Let the Betrayal of Public Trust be rightfully judged as a high crime.

This National rule applies equally to all 3 levels of our government and extends to every hired person that takes on an oath to the American Constitution.

Every honest person in this country should immediately be intolerant of politicians who use their position in government to advance their own personal desires.

The representatives should NEVER use tax dollars to bolster their own piggybank.

The representatives should NEVER USE their position in government as a springboard into nepotistic behavior.

When our elections become valuable and unmanipulated: Every single honest person in this country will be on board with representatives paying a price for dirty deeds done, regardless of what side of the isle it comes from.

And lastly.

How long do you think dirty deeds would continue under a consequence for the betrayal of governmental trust which will carry the death penalty, and also making the visitation of justice sure and swift.

She deserves to be fired not reassigned.

silverwind9's avatar

A real shame that Noem failed here. Dang. I’m glad though she was fired from her position. Trump putting her in another position was maybe too merciful?

Charlotte's avatar

I’m really happy he fired her. She is clearly corrupt. And to add insult to injury, the ad that cost us $240 million, was absolutely awful. I’ve seen a Gen Z kid do better ads on the Border Patrol handle on X, for pennies, in comparison.

Deb Nance's avatar

wow. I had no idea, but I do know that Trump has no problem firing people. He's famous for it. So I figured that if he wasn't happy she would be out.

The rotten old swamp swallows them all.

Richard Mazon's avatar

Agreed, that this exactly the stuff the democrats did in "grants" to those doing their dirty work. Exhibit A:

https://www.kennedy.senate.gov/public/2025/2/kennedy-condemns-biden-admin-for-doling-out-2b-to-abrams-backed-climate-change-organization

However, I had some experience with people who paid her (firm, relatives, attorneys) an awful lot of money $10 - 20k when she was governor for solving immigration problems that of course as a state governor she had no power to solve, and didn't. Quite frankly, nothing here surprises except the scale. And this is one of Trump's flaws, some of his personnel picks leave a lot to be desired.

I don't think any illegal alien being deported will see the inside of that plane, either. Nor One Extremely Moronic (NOEM) former head of the Department of Homeland Security. The Department did a fine job in spite of her. I expect Sen Markwayne Mullin will do much better without all the publicity attached to a typical Cabinet member. I have a slight bias toward Mullin; he's my former neighbor. But I know he's a competent business operator, and goes about his job quietly and effectively.

Ernie Boxall's avatar

I agree with PrettyBirds... everything you've written could have been copied for the Obama 2020-2024 administration, but wasn't.

I have to believe that Noem, like Bondi wasn't the PRESIDENT'S first pick but the RINOs wouldn't have the best available.
